this was by far my favorite of the video/audio clips of this song. So many of them had too much "milking" of the line. Schubert intended this to be plain and simple. Look at the piano part--no pedal. This singer is really extraordinary, and I will look for her again to show my singing students what good really is.

Aafje Heynis has a fine voice and sensitivity to Franz Schubert and his musical ideas. I see she has also done Ave Maria D839 (Ellens Gesang III). As she is listed as a contralto, I think she might like to compare Marian Anderson's Schubert and Handel performances, particularly Schubert's 1811 Gretchen am Spinnrade and Die Forelle and Standchen. Also Handel "He shall feed his flock" and the Largo from Xerces. Keep up the good work. You deserve larger audiences.
