Taxes are also used to make banks more stable which are used to make loans for new companies which are used to create jobs. @IcedCoffee81 i slightly disagree...if you own a business, you should still get taxed a lot if your income goes over a certain amount, but I believe that corporate taxes should be WAY LOWER, like say 10%, so people have incentive to keep money invested in corporations. Also a lower corporate tax rate and a higher personal income tax rate almost guarantees that the CEOs of these companies will not have the incentive to loot their companies for personal gain.

Republicans keep asking this rhetorical question of how much millionaires and billionaires should pay in taxes (% wise). Look at history...1940s (post-Great Depression) to 1980s (before Reagan's massive tax cuts) the tax rate on the top incomes were between 70%-90%. That's the rate we need to go back to.

The only group of wealthy people that should NOT pay taxes are those that own businesses and corporations so they could create jobs. But I think any wealthy person that works for someone else should be forced into paying additional taxes. The ultra-right wing has a huge fit when the wealth of the rich is redistributed. But they don't have a problem when the wealth of low- and middle-income Americans is redistributed. I hope the Occupy Wall Street protests become viral as the Tea Party movement.
