Jerry was the man. RIP. Grew up watching him on WPIX. Best line for me? In the bad days of late 70's early 80 New York Giants--"I watched the Giants game today, as the Giant's linebackers did...with binoculars."

Sad to hear of his passing, he was the best sportscaster in NYC in the 80's..better than Marv Albert or Warner Wolf.
My fav delivery of his was in the late 80's, he delivered the news that the Yankees were holding a winter meeting of the organiztion's Pitching Coaches in Florida...and then cuts to a stock picture of Vatican Square filled with thousands of people!...for those who thought Steinbrenner just fired alot of Managers, he was even worse with Pitching Coaches!

Growing up in Queens and watching Jerry Girard...classic
Funniest memory of him was when he made fun of the awful Nets in the early 80's
"The Nets with a rare lead over the Lakers...2-0"
