Paul will surely remain my most favourite treble soloist of all time.
PS: With regard to the scene in the filmed play, was this perhaps an early version of stereophonic music experience? ;-)
I had loved to be the listener on the grass in the middle. What an acoustic experience.

I concur. When he sings, he doesn't sound like he's mindlessly repeating what has been drilled into him, but with emotion and passion and FEELING!
Oh he was even amazing when he was young.

Oh yes. He's possibly my all-time favorite treble. He had such a uniquely rich, robust timbre and a mature, confident delivery. Dr. Barry Rose once said Phoenix had a "golden voice." Not just a beautiful-sounding instrument, but "the rare gift of communicating."
