A rappelling harness can be made out of rope or tubular webbing in an emergency by forming three loops use as a waist belt and two leg loops. Fasten a makeshift rappelling harness with helpful advice from an experienced climber in this free video on rock climbing.

  • Looks painful, especially for a heavy guy like me. I usually wear a 5.11 belt with steel rescue buckle. Works for emergency rappels with a single carabiner and a munter. Well, it's not really comfortable either.

  • @ninet999 I use a double fisherman...mostly out of habit I guess. And yes, you can use a Munter or a carabiner break...in a pinch...pardon the pun.

  • @ZK818 I watched your video...or enough of it at least and since you went to so much trouble to show us all your wonderful rope-work skills, you should have used webbing...all i had with me was a cordelette (which I'm sure you've never heard of). At least I did mention it should be made with webbing for more comfort. BTW...I think you're cap-lock is stuck.
