Vladimir Putin has accused Hillary Clinton, the US secretary of state, of fomenting an increasingly vociferous opposition movement in Russia, threatening to derail the two countries' fragile resetting of relations.

The accusation builds on months of Russian statements and media coverage blaming popular uprisings around the Arab world on western scheming. It comes as Washington and Moscow tussle over a host of disagreements, from missile defence to Syria.

Speaking to supporters on Thursday, Putin accused Clinton of giving "the signal" to opposition leaders, who are expected to gather with tens of thousands of supporters for a protest on Saturday. He rejected Clinton's repeated criticism of a parliamentary vote last weekend that gave Putin's United Russia party nearly 50% of the vote amid widespread reports of fraud.

  • when the protests started i was impressed that putin did not fall back on the the old classic sovok line that it was all orchestrated by western "diversanty". now here it is and i guess that i gave him too much credit. even though hillary is a cunt, the people in the street are putin's own people. many of them have no love for neither the west nor putin himself.

what now putin? do you let them protest or do you round them up? a confident leader allows dissent as long as it's non-violent.

  • @movitmovit it reminds me of the way USSR toyed with US through the Nth Korea, he's a complicated guy Putin, I'm sure this would have been released this way, (with sub titles) for a reason

  • These liberal whackos are going to start WW3

  • @BeantownJim just like Korean War - Russia will but toy with US through a generation of young men killed in battle on both sides

  • He is right. She spoke based on her agenda not the truth. Every country has a right to sovereignty. Let the people bring themselves up. If it is time they do not need a signal, they will just rise up. Who trusts Clinton anyway.

  • @ArtisanTony yeah - she really should picks her fights better

  • @ArtisanTony you should realize France was accessed of giving American patriots the signal to fight for independence from Britain monarchy

  • @lesleyblooddotcom yes & now N Koreans are starving in the millions thanks to Russias support of their monarch leader, while S. Korea is by far the most advanced nation in all of Eurasia thanks to USA support in the war.

Subtitles have more to do with language translation than Putin complexity C:

  • @strizhi many of the leadership in both countries still carry baggage from the cold war. so do many of the press.

  • @movitmovit So I'm proud American and I'm proud of being Russian and seeing it where it has come from in just ten years - a role model to follow. But I honestly can tell the western media blitz to shove it up its ass!! If Russians wanted it that bad then millions would be showing up...that was what it was in the 1990's I know cause I was there. This lying sack of shit media outbursts have no say in the matter since they have lied since day one.

  • @movitmovit The problem with these protests in Russia is they're asking for Russians abroad to join them in Moscow. They amount to 100,000 by some accounts and less then 30,000 showed up. There is 12 million in Moscow. Only ones I hear moaning and bitching are those who oppose Russian Federation 1991 and up and want Soviet Union to return. So I'm looking at a majority of commies and fascists in this movement and no clear leader to replace Putin or Medvedev or the Unite Party for that matter.

  • Putin, you're busted no matter who you blame. I see a Russian Spring evolving, maybe the US is next?

  • there ya go; Russia's back to dictatorship. pffffffffffff
