Title: I Wed Myself
Medium: Video Art, Double channel projection
Duration: 3:02 min
Size: Variable (depending on the allocated space).
Year: 2010
Although according to our gender, we are defined as a boy or a girl from the moment of birth, I would rather treat the baby as a human being. Despite my femininity as a woman, psychologically I sometimes consider myself as a man as well. In order to do this video work, I simultaneously assumed the roles of both the bride and groom of my own wedding.
First, as a bride I performed my reality meticulously in bridal makeup and attire on a wedding stage.
Returning to the green room for a short haircut with the addition of some mustache, I finally dressed up and performed on stage as a groom. A professional make-up artist and hairdresser actively engaged in this project
These two contrasting sequences are edited in one frame to show both the bride and groom on stage together that will be projected alongside a second projection showing my transformations as a bride and groom side by side on the wall.
