@DanteJoseCuervo He said he was when he first started, but he worked through it because, as he said, " Sometimes music so wants to be heard that it calls on the most unlikely people to give it voice". Inspiring.

Check out Satori in Tangier for more insane soloing

18 people gave up on playing guitar after watching this.

Yeah agree with Larrypopiel It's the second in this series of clips that's the reason I still find Mr. Fripp to be the best at his craft. I don't care who's the fastest or who's the greatest. Fripp's sound and style are incomparable, love him or hate him and God knows there are a lot of Fripp haters out there!! I'm a Fripp lover!! King Crimson albums keep their head rush. I've listened to them for over thirty years, and they are still spine tingling!! Led Zepp albums don't do that for me.

When you have guys like Vai and Satriani wanting you to come along with them on tour, when they pay homage to you when on tour themselves....well, no matter what anyone says, YOU are a living legend guitar player. You wouldn't even have had to hear anything he played to know that, but when you've heard KC or any of Fripp's other projekts you have just removed all doubt.
-
His playing style is very very particular. His right hand always florts from guitar body (He is lefty). It means that his lefthand mute technic and alternate picking skill are perfect. Does anybody play like that on earth ? His solo in LTIAP3 is extraordinary in the guitar history. Holdsworth, Vai, Malmsteen, if they are more technical than Fripp, they can't play like Fripp.
-
This man is a guitar genius and will never be understood.
-
2:35 ROBERT FRIPP IS THE GODFATHER OF PROGTECHMETAL BLA BLA!! seriously!! he's "fripping" Spiral Architect and Ron Jarzombek are probably fans of him!!!!!!!!!! respect from Morocco.
-
Robert Fripp is genius, his own style, He´s a technician, i´m sure that he plays 24 hours of the day, He has control, no one like him.
-
If memory serves me correctly Fripp once said in an interview that he is both tone-deaf and lacked rhythm. Still, much respect to him.
-
for those who think he has no melodic sense check out "Bringing Down the Light"
-
@goodoldrebel8 Really? just how much of Fripp have you listened too?
-
@migbee How about that song he wrote about his brother who died? I think you should give Malmsteen more credit. He certainly has a better attitude onstage than fripp
-
@goodoldrebel8 I can't play it, but that doesn't mean it's good. He has technique and that's about it. No soul. No melody. Just shameless wanking scales and arpeggios.
-
Are you kidding me. When was the last time you were able to play "Far Beyond the Sun". Come on and give credit where credit is due. Of course I'm partial to american players but Malmsteen is one of the greatest.
-
Agree, he's very impressed with himself. For example a timeless player like John Mclaughlin is miles above fripp in both playing ability and attitude. I just ignore fripp and let him fade into the sunset.

King Crimson>Pink Floyd

@goodoldrebel8 malmsteen is fucking awful...
-
@antibalas79 Yes, I hear Fripp AND McLaughlin influences in Omar's music, maybe that's why i like it!
-
@Stoner075B I hear you and agree with you her except about FZ. Malmsteen, Herman Li, Mark Morton, Paul Gilbert etc. are all the 'Alvin Lees' of today and actually I see that as a growth in the guitar world. Still, JM, Iommi and guys like that have stood the test of time.

@PrimericanIdol ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha h....

@LedMGP If I had read your commentary, I would not have bothered to write mine verbose, boring comments, you put it all so very clearly and briefly, that i'm rendered preemptively superflous. You are indeed quite right and without offending anyone, which is what angers me so much about commentary in general, people are way to agressive and i can't get why.
-
In other words, that such and such is my favorite does not make him the best, that perhaps tells me more about the listener than the player (who is unrelevant in a way) or the music (which happens to be the heart of the matter)
-
Which is perhaps why he's not using tube amps and going for the old sounds. that by the by would possibly be safer ground in terms of $. As for his aversion to graphic recordings of the musicians, it may be that if you center your attention in da player, that distracts you from the music. And for those of you who think of music in terms of competition and status, I beg to differ, listening to this or that does not make me better, nor worse. And sorry for the typos. not a native speaker. 2/2
-
@bertonifilms He's got speed?, I thought he was anti drugs. ha ha ha, what is Belew on then?. Mo' seriously, you speak quite rightly about how he is perceived, me thinks.
Fripp!

The solo work starting at 2:36 is one of my favorites. Chaotic, precise ..... blasts off into the nether regions, then synchs up perfectly with the band. Awesome.
