Your doctor has recommended that you undergo a Dilation and Curettage, or D and C. But what does that actually mean?

The uterus is part of a woman's reproductive system. It's the organ that contains the growing fetus.

The cervix forms the neck of the uterus,

and the vagina is the canal through which conception and birth take place.

The endometrium is a soft lining that protects the fetus during pregnancy.

Reasons for having a D and C vary. Most D and C's are performed because the patient has complained of unusually heavy menstrual bleeding.

Other common problems include, uterine infection, bleeding after sexual intercourse, incomplete miscarriage

or the presence of polyps - small pieces of extra tissue growing on the inside of the uterine wall.

  • I gave this video a 1. It doesn't tell you WHAT a D&C actually entails, which is what I want to know.

  • Great Info, now where is part 2?

  • lolwarmhearted girl who is searching for a man who would be able to satisfy my needs

  • Most of the women I have talked to have to do this due to an incomplete miscarriage. I'm just hoping I won't have to have this done. I found out yesterday that I have an incomplete miscarriage, I'm waiting to see if it comes naturally if not then I will need to have this procedure done.

  • yup

  • did u actually watch this vid? it explains everythg

  • it's a type of abortion right?

  • my mum has to have one because she had polyps

  • wife miscarriedwent to the er. said going to do this procedure waited till I left the room to call her mom Then they locked door(state licensed Paramedic)wouldn't allow me back in. Had her sign the consent form AFTER administering anes. Do I trust Gyn's or hospitals to do the right thing?Hell no Alienated the hell out of me so I filed a charge with the state health dept. Great video explanation of procedure, but hubbies: if dr tries to exclude you or separate you from wife..report them and sue.
