  • screw kerdi, id rather use mapei's antifracture waterproofing aquadefense. no worries about air bubbles and its an easier, less expensive installation. kerdi is garbage. mud your shower base, its a proven install. that shit polyshitboard only been around for 10 years at best. good install though.

  • @thefullmonte2003 , i haven't tried mapei products so can't really say too much. schluter has released a new product called "kerdi board". it is basically a hybrid of a lightweight backer board with a factory installed kerdi. i will be using kerdi board later this month on a shower for the first time so it will be interesting to see how much time i can save on prepping. you are right about the cost. i agree that schluter products are expensive, but they stand behind their products which is great

  • The "orange stuff" is very easy to install. It's called "Kerdi" and is made Schluter. One super important tip: Make sure and use the recommended thinset to install the Kerdi. I like to use "Ditra Set" by Hydroment which is endorsed by Schluter. I have been installing these shower systems for years with excellent results!

  • How wonderfully clear your instruction is- thank you!

  • Thanks for watching. I think you will find the complete shower video very useful and easy to follow!

  • @ceramictilepro yea kerdi board is rediculously expensive and you still have to tape and waterproof the joints!!!!!! use denshield backerboard made by georgia pacific, and then waterproof the seams with mapei aquadefense. denshield has a built in moisture barrier. im not bashing kerdim but there are easier and better ways to waterproof than kerdi membrane. now ditra underlayment is the shit.

  • Very nice job, I have to installone of these shower trays for the first time soon. Is the orange matting stuff easy to use?
