  • The noise he makes is hmm exhaling. This tightens the abdomen and diaphram to allow a more powerful kick.

    the "sh" sound is like "kia" sound in karate

    In Muay Thay is a way to compensate your abdomen, i mean a good kick requires a very fast and pronounced hip-swing (hip rotation), when the hip rotates your abdomen "squeezes"

    making the "sh" sound helps "eject" or the air by mouth and find less resistaince in your abdominal area (and prevents the internal organs stress i think)

    well thats one of the fundamentals of the "SH" sound

  • @ Stoyashot - How the fuck can u sweep a front kick ? thats something beginners would do .... and it fails hard since u would then go from a say low kick to a front kick true a sweep and u would lose at least half the power of a normal front kick if not more =S

  • you dont have to do sh ....alot of people make different noises sh is just the standard most natural is guess thats why alot of people have it

    just make the noise that comes out naturally

    watch buakaw training video he makes HILARIOUS noises he sounds like a goat laughing

  • i have no idea why thai boxers have to make a sound like "sh" when they kick, anyone knows?... I know we ought to exhale while kicking, but instead of "sh", i just make a "normal" sound, feel more comfortable

  • I can see this is a very good way to train your front kicks because you have to really punch your kick instead of sweeping it. First you have to chamber your leg and then you must open it straight. This method really stresses that point otherwise you`ll hit the bar.
