As a pioneer in solar heating, Elco has erected one of the world's largest vacuum tube collector systems with around 7,500 square metres of collector surface area on the roofs of the Olympic Village in Beijing. This represents an absorber surface area of 4,300 square metres and 44,000 vacuum tubes.
The system provided hot water for the 18,000 athletes attending the Olympic Games and will be subsequently used for everyone living in the complex after it has been transformed into a residential centre.
