Elvis Presley Good Rockin Tonight
Written by Roy Brown. Elvis recorded it on September 10, 1954 at Sun Records with Scotty Moore and Bill Black. It was part of Elviss concert repertoire for the next few years. It was the A-side to I Dont Care If The Sun Dont Shine and was released in both 78 RPM and 45 RMP versions. It was released on The Complete Sun Sessions, A Date With Elvis, Elvis: The Hillbilly Cat LPs, and is now available on The King of Rock n Roll-The Complete 50s Masters, The Sun Sessions CD, and Artist of the Century, which is where this version is from.

Well, I heard the news
Theres good rockin' tonight.
Well, I heard the news
There's good rockin' tonight.

I'm gonna hold my baby
As tight as I can.
Tonight she'll know
I'm a mighty, mighty man.
I heard the news,
Theres good rockin' tonight.

I say, well, meet me in a hurry
Behind the barn,
Don't you be afraid, darling,
I'll do you no harm
I want you to bring
Along my rockin' shoes,
'Cause tonight I'm gonna rock away
All my blues.
I heard the news,
Theres good rockin' tonight.

Well, we're gonna rock. We're gonna rock.
Let's rock. Come on and rock.
We're gonna rock all our blues away.

Have you heard the news?
Everybody's rockin' tonight.
Have you heard the news?
Everybody's rockin' tonight.

I'm gonna hold my baby
As tight as I can,
Well, tonight she'll know
I'm a mighty, mighty man.
I heard the news,
There's good rockin' tonight.

Well, we're gonna rock, rock, rock,
Come on and rock, rock, rock,
Well, rock, rock, rock, rock,
Let's rock, rock, rock, rock,
We're gonna rock all our blues away.

  • @salchez68 Nice to hear from you, Salchez68. I guess we can count ourselves lucky to have been young when Elvis burst on the scene. In fact, there was a lot of really exciting Rock and Roll breaking out just then !

  • @Scotseasy I totally agree with you, this is the Elvis, that made our jaws drop, listened in awe, this was the phenomena that came into our lives in 50's

  • The King was just Southern Fried Cool

  • Agree that pre-Parker, pre-Army Elvis is the best!!!!!! Thanks for making this music available on YT.

  • @alexihodge87 Well technically this arrangement is solely his, scottys and bills arrangement..like the repeating of the first line and the we´re gonna rock shouting and all..and this is the version that influenced the world!
