It hadn't even occured to me that the black and white film may have been an artistic decision. I really wonder about that now.

Hah, I had no idea color filming was available at the time. I'm surprised they didn't go with it, but I am glad they didn't. Seems to fit the "from memory, long ago" theme that these scenes carry from Scout.
