Since compression isn't the most fun a guitarist can have with effects, many might be cautious before diving into purchasing a tube compressor like the Black Finger. Owen O'Malley is to show you what you're paying extra for.

    Customer Reviews:

I use this for bass.I run it into a '74 Acoustic Control 370 fullstack(solid state). My first impression of it was that it did very little. I tested it first right at a band practice. After an hour I could really tell the difference. Now not using it makes me feel cheesey. Nobody really takes about full potential. It is nice with flat ...

  • the led and lamp are for the attack ratio.. they don't necessarilly change the warmth or top end.

  • I have a demo of the black finger on bass on my channel!!

  • Here's a thought - Get the guitar in fucking tune!

  • The playing in this is useless to demo the pedal.

Probably THOUSANDS of guitar players who put compression as early in the chain as possible disagree w/ you both.

In general, you do *not* want to compress after distortion as it sucks all the life and tone out of the distortion (and the guitar tone, in general). You want to compress your signal and THEN distort it.

And if by sounding white, you mean he actually bothers to enunciate, well, A.) that's racist, and B.) since when did good diction become a BAD thing?? o.0

  • There was a big difference when he demo'ed the compressor before the OD so maybe most people have it after the OD in their chain but I don't think that it's "pointless" to reverse the order . I know several people who like the compressor in front . Maybe it depends on how specific pedals react to one another so it's always worth experimenting with the signal chain . There aren't hard or fast rules . You go with what sounds best to your ears don't you ?

  • @omnicrutch agreed, this guy has no clue what about signal chains
