This movie came on TCM last night. It was a bit slow for me. I'll watch the 40 min. I missed. But the part of the movie I did see was good. Gene was actually the highlight of the movie especially towards the end (her performance recaptured my attention).

@stitchgrl777 It was about 1978 and I was just a lowly clerk auditor in Houston and my boss lady said to me after Gene's little hi wave, "do you know who that is?!" I said no, and she just said, "that's Gene Tierney". She was what I'd say a distinguished looking fairly attractive lady, even at that age. Her husband, Howard Lee, was still alive at the time, and she was apparently showing up for tea and/or coffee. They had an elegant coffee room there then. It's been remodeled and changed.

I don't see her giving in to the "casting couch" either. funny phrase but very appropriately used. She seemed too pristine.

@stitchgrl777 Yes, and although she may have eventually had her romances in real life, I don't think she gave in to the 'casting couch'. She was adorable enough without having to resort to that. Hard to imagine a vision like her puttering around in a kitchen, etc.. I will always wish I could have better known exactly who she was when I say her in that Houston Lobby about lunchtime, or early afternoon, I think. I would have walked across the lobby just to open the coffee shop door for her!

@gnsback probably very little, and I feel that because she didn't throw herself out there in a sexually aggressive manner, hollywood appreciated her less. She's the "Doll" beauty, not the overt beauty, though anyone who lays more than a 1 moment eye on her will be shaken by how beautiful she is.

And you're right her intonations *are* perfect. it's very soothing and unforced.

awesome. Do you folks notice Gene's perfect intonations? The lilt in a voice can sound fakey and shallow if overdone, but she gives it just enough push to make her statement sound very real, .... just as though you were at the table there with her. She was such a natural. I wonder how many viewers can get past her beauty to note the talent.
