WAITING FOR THE COUNTDOWN
Copyright © 1991 by Eben Brooks
I sit at home with my radio waiting for the countdown to come
I sit at home and I'm all alone waiting for the countdown to come
And it feels like the world is coming to an end
And you might not be there tomorrow
And they'll send us off to the desert sands
For reasons that they've bought, begged, and borrowed
In a bar with a wet glass in hand waiting for the countdown to come
Mr. President says we'll make a stand waiting for the countdown the come
And the southern border's looking better all the time
I never thought I'd want to live in TJ
If they send me off to the foreign war
Will I live to see another day?
Closer now to the final hour waiting for the countdown to come
Will I be a wall of steel or just a glass tower waiting for the countdown to come?
And it feels like the world is coming to an end
And we might not be there tomorrow
And they'll send us off to the desert sands
With a fear that we feel in the marrow
And our weapons firing salvoes of sorrow
All for reasons that they've bought, begged, and borrowed
Thank you! :D
