Lotus supplied the engines to Ford like they did for the Lotus Cortina. It looks like the exhaust but is actually the air cleaner for the carbs.

@TAMBSports actually Lotus built the mk1 cortina and Ford supplied them with the cortina shells and any parts that they used, hence why they have no Ford badges on them.

nice original looking car, brings back many memories, but please loose the chrome rostyles and rear overriders, the original cars had a plain bumper and steel wheels with hub caps!, and yes i've had and built lots of twinks and bda's from the 60's through to the early 80's.

@MikeB4pl im awake, and having owned my Bda for 28 years, and after building numerous Bds for people, I can assure you that the fuel, oil pump and distributor driveshaft IS a camshaft, if you wish me to prove it send me your email address and I will show you a picture of it, it has all the cam lobes etc. you may be getting confused with the short aux shaft that bdg etc use. oh, and the Lotus Twincam aux shaft is a CAMSHAFT TOO!! so that is also a triple cam!

@mainman2999  That is completly different ..... like Focus ST and RS or like Capri RS2600 and 3100 RS.

Escort Twincam was made with chain driven camshaft Lotus engine.... RS engine was a BDA build by Cosworth. The fuel , oil pump and distributor drive shaft is not a camshaft ! Hello , wake up. A Zetec or a Duratec under the hood will not make it a Escort Twincam or Escort RS .... always just a swapped engine replica of the real one. You can put any badge you want - I don't care ....

@MikeB4pl not really completely different, same car just a 16valve head as you say with a toothed belt instead of a chain. BUT an RS1600 IS still a TWINCAM thats what I MEANT. if you want to be really pedantic, its a TRIPLE cam because it still has the crossflow cam in the side of the block driving the fuel pump, oil pump and distributor! Maybe i will get a badge made up and put it on the front wings " TRIPLECAM" ho ho

@mainman2999 You've got something completly different -- BDA 16v camshaft is run by belt - Twincam 8v by chain ...

With a 940 ccm Mk1 Escort can say that I ve got one too :-)
