Balanchine's first American ballet, Serenade (1934), was choreographed for his students. An ideal manifestation of Tchaikovsky's soaring Serenade for Strings, its transcendent purity endures and renews itself as a primary testament to the choreographer's genius, and continues to intrigue with hints of poignant narrative.

  • @Jayjen35 I love watching people when they are rehearsing in their practice clothes. Maybe it seems more raw or personal idk. I just love it. :)

  • does anyone know where we can buy the purple leotard the girl at 0:36 is wearing? I'm in love with it!

  • my orchestra is playing this tchaikovsky serenade :) and these beautiful dancers compliment the first movement so well. i know puns aren't really funny, but... no pun intended :)

  • rehearsals feel so much more human, so much more sincere

  • I wonder if the Balanchine foundation (or whatever the name is) would allow more of his choreography to be seen online if they showed people rehearsing it in practice clothes rather than in costume or in performance....hey....anyone in power listening....maybe think about it okay????

  • @InalielAirotciv its actually more comfortable, they also have many many rehearsals to go to which are sometimes contemporary works and require no tights so they are switching in between rehearsals. its stupid and time consuming to go change and take everything off just to put tights on underneath again during the day.

  • @ecj177 Yeah I agree.After all it is practice.lol
