Why Me? Ch. 26 (Missing You)

Mare's POV:
Nick be okay please, I was begging to myself in my head. We have been sitting in the waiting room for over and hour. Shelly has been hugging Joe while he cried and Kevin is in the bathroom while Stacey is in the corner all awkward. The pressure is getting to everyone, until the Doctor came out. He walked over to me and whispered
"He is okay, don't fret. Only one at a time though. I will explain later what happened as soon as his guardians arrive. Room 206" I got up and ran to his room, not wasting a second. I opened the door and saw him, his cute little face is asleep. I wanted to just watch him sleep but he awoke.
"Mare?" I smiled and walked over to him holding his hand
"Yes?" I was beaming at him
"Thank you, so much" He lifted his face up to kiss me which made me blush, I bent down to him and kissed him softly but he pushed hard against me making my lips form into a smile. I pulled away and he frowned. "You are sick, remember?" I laughed. He smiled at me and closed his eyes.
"I love you" I whispered to myself.
"What?" He looked at me funny, the feeling in my face went away.
"I said, I missed you" He smiled and said,
"I missed you too, Mare Bear" I hugged him tightly, he didn't seem to mind as he pulled me closer making me almost on top of his chest, that's when the door opened.
"Nick!" Shelly ran in with Joe behind her, she pushes me out of the way and hugs him. I laughed and sat down observing them. Shelly looked like she was crying earlier, with Joe you could tell he HAS been crying for a long time now.
"Hey Shelly" He hugged her back "Joe" His smiled lit up the whole room, causing Joe to smile and they hugged for a while
"Man, I'm so glad your okay." He sighed "You had us worried, bro" Nick frowned,
"I know, I didn't mean to" It was a short silence then the doctor walked in and smiled,
"I wasn't able to get in touch with the guardians but I have to tell you sooner or later, what's wrong with Nick" My heart dropped, anticipation was making me numb "He seems to have Type 1 diabetes"
"Isn't that for fat people?" Joe asked confused. I busted out laughing along with everyone else.
"No, it can be spread just with bad eating habits or genetically."
"Oh" Joe said embarrassed.
"Now Nick you just have to take your insulin shots before and after you eat a meal, so 6 times a day" I was shocked, I wanted to hold nick and tell him that It would be okay. Cry for him, let me feel the pain so that he didn't have too. Is that love?

Brittany's POV

"God dam nit" Kevin said under his breathe while viciously looking at the piled up traffic in front of us. I knew he was worried about Nick, as am I. He wanted to get there as soon as possible to be there for him but as of now we will be running late.
"Kevin?" I asked, my voice small compared to his.
"What?"
"Do you like me?" I knew it was an odd place to ask a question but curiosity bubbled inside of me. I needed to know.
