Landlubbers be warned, rough seas ahead. This video may induce vomiting. This is some footage from Saturday on the electric boat (Duffy 14), I left a bit of camera audio in so you could hear how quiet it is.

The water lily looking flowers are American Lotus, they were in full bloom for as far as you could see the week before, so I brought 'the big camera' and tripod... They're mostly shriveled. Story of my life. These pretty flowers are 'invasive' and would take over the entire lake if not managed.

The lake is about two hours north from home, several lakes closer but this is my favorite when the flowers are in bloom. This lake has a ten-horsepower limit, and very active sailing community. Most others just have a bunch of stinkpots buzzing around.

The audio is my latest sound doodle, its working title is Fake Music.

For the video, I had the camera on the tripod in center of boat focused on infinity. Forgot to lock auto-exposure again, my only gripe with this camera, you have to dig through menu each time powering up to do so. Without locking AE, you get the annoying changes in light; especially on a bobbing boat. Blown colors everywhere. Camera is a Pentax K-x, lens is a 20-year-old Takumar 70-200.

  • Thanks for posting. Very nice footage of the sailing at Cowan Lake. Some of the nicest folks known sail up there! Thanks again.

  • @raggsailor Glad you enjoyed! I live about two hours South, and it's my favorite lake within two hours. I'm the guy on the weird looking red electric boat with top & windows, traded my pride & joy Expo Solar Sailer for it.

  • fucking awesome, AWESOME visuals at the beginning. i gotta say, i'm listening more than i am watching at this juncture. i am liking what i'm hearing. especially with them therrrr drum bobs. 8)

  • Thank you, Dusty! As always.

My stuff is always about the audio, the vids are just excuses to not slap a still image over it as many musicians do.

  • ...and you probably have a good idea how pissed I am at the blown colors. I'll never forget to set auto-exposure lock again.

  • Very good shots...would have liked to have seen the first bit slower...I do not have ADD lol ..but the boats were cool...

  • Thank you! I did get a little carried away, didn't realize how bad until too late. I uploaded the pics for you (and anyone else interested), link in description.

  • Thank you, Jason! Whenever I get depressed I'm going to read this, you're too kind.

Sailing is very interesting, you'd love it. I started with a tarp on a canoe. You seem like the kinda guy that might have an old canoe lying around.
