you can do it all as a kid, you first go to the far left corner of the pit, then you step back a few steps. you look left where the sand and pit meet until it is at the middle of your screen(he does it at 4 seconds in) and then you do what he does. and make sure you roll forward so that u dont sink into the sand.

im doing the uber challenge now lol. god im soo glad im done with the gate glitch. that took FOREVER!!!

I almost made it past, then I by accident backfliped out of the entire map. LOL

It took me maybe 20 tries to get the cucco gate jump. I must have tried this 50 times with 2 successes - of course I screwed up navigating the wasteland toward the end. In my opinion, it's harder than the cucco jump.

Thanks Cheesoman, I didnt have the longshot when i was in the haunted wasteland as an adult. This small trick helped me out. In other words, i got the requiem of spirit before going in the water temple.
