China: Guangxi Forestry Development & Conservation Project

The northern and western parts of Guangxi have large areas of karst limestone which support a wide variety of range-restricted species of animals and plants.
The hotspots for this endemic wildlife is in the many caves of the region. The 'Integrated Forestry Development & Conservation Project' financed by the World Bank and GEF includes a subcomponent which gives attention to the biodiversity of Guangxi's caves, both within and outside protected areas, and this film shows the type of work undertaken and the animals caught. Professor Louis Deharveng of the Museum National d'Histoire Naturelle in Paris led the cave surveys, and Professor Niu Chang-ying of Huazhong Agricultural University took the video
footage.
