Congressman Roskam took to the floor of the House of Representatives to point out the potential for egregious abuse and corruption in H.R. 5818, the Neighborhood Stabilization Act of 2008. This legislation would provide $15 billion in loans and grants to states, municipalities and non-profits to buy foreclosed properties. Instead of favoring an open process that would provide for public auctions of the properties purchased with the funds made available, the legislation unnecessarily leaves the door open for corruption, which we know all too well in Illinois. Here Congressman Roskam is fighting to protect taxpayers from abuse of federal funds.
So Maxine waters lied. Go figure.
