I'll be happy to admit I'm wrong but i do believe that is called a properly called a marlin spike. A "FID" has a hole in the back side to fit your line into, to use more like a needle.

Indeed it is Bud Brewer's fid... That might sound a bit selfish but I'm going to miss his craftsmanship a lot
