Within view of the Vatican on Friday afternoons one can find a strangely rare sight for Rome. Street evangelization. Right in the heart of the Catholic world, where monumental Churches often do the talking, these young people gather under the World Youth Day Cross to give witness to Christ.Of the crowds that pass by, many people stop, both of the older and younger generations. And when it's over, all are invited to follow the cross back to the nearby Centro San Lorenzo, or St. Lawrence center, for Mass. They fill their chapel. Some are the regulars, but many quite literally were brought in off the street. They were fortunate on this particular occasion to be led in prayer by the Pope's own master of ceremonies, Msgr. Guido Marini. He meditated on man's relationship with the saints. At this reception afterwards, the Monsignor also treated them to an anecdote. He spoke of his favorite moment of World Youth Day 2011 in Madrid, Spain, the prayer vigil with 2 million youngsters. In the young people's own words, they seek to take that World Youth Day spirit to the streets.
