sorjinius: You've got to be kidding me. A civilization in 900 BCE was more advanced than we are today? By which set of standards and/or measurements are you basing this statement on? Do me a favor: Go compare the life expectancies, disease rates, and for extra measure, the rate of infant mortality and come back and talk about advances. The try this on: It took them a week to travel the same distance it would take us hours. Mathematics, literature, etc. Think before you post. Good day.

Nice SoulFly at the beginning there. Great points. You made it lucid and digestible for the primitive theist brains. Nice job.

@AndresZepeda *you're, *vocabulary, *which. You probably shouldn't call this guy retarded for his vocabulary when your argument contains so many spelling errors.

@Thatmakessense356 (continued)me how some mediums use techniques like body reading&cold reading if I remember rightly & of course I'm aware some mediums are fake. However like I say personal experience has 'proved' my beliefs to be accurate, as far as I'm concerened, which I could discuss if you wanted to. Incase you're wondering I'm an 18 year old male studying Forensic Science at University and I'm in to heavy/thrash metal which would seem strange considering I'm also religious to some degree.

@Thatmakessense356 Firstly thanks. Maybe I'm too quick to label myself a 'Christian'. I guess it's the closest to what I believe in so it makes sense. What I believe in is an afterlife with a 'God'. I have come to this conclusion through, among other things, mediums. I know they're often ridiculed but personal experiences, on several occassions has, as far as I'm concerned, 'proved' this for me. One A-level I did was psychology which taught (continued...)

I came here for Neil Degrasse Tyson. I was disappointed.

@OllieDem 1 Very intelligible argument. 2 Respect is earned. Consideration and courtesy are not. There is an essential difference. I will be courteous and considerate to everything you believe. 3 If belief is the acceptance that something is true, it should be backed with logic and evidence. Where exactly have you found the two for your belief in the existence of Yahweh?

Judaism, and Christianity actually stand in stark contrast to the animism of ancient cultures. The suggestion that either are based on pagan religions is spurious in the extreme. The Old Testament makes it obvious that that Isrealites were called to reject entirely pagan and animistic worship. Much of our philosophy dates back to two thousand years and earlier, are we to reject it on the same grounds that you offer for rejecting Christianity?

I loved the title. :) Too stupid to understand science? Try Religion! :)
(Continued)... on this Earth alone. So isn't it possible that there's some higher force or being? I've never forced anyone to be religious or listen to my religious views so all I ask for is a little respect. I'm not saying you're not respectful but essentially you are calling me stupid for believing what I believe. Respect each others views and I'm sure everyone would get along a lot better. Oh and by the way, nice Pantera hat :)

@OllieDem
Thanks!
I don't really believe in stupid people. People are indoctrinated into believing in many things in this culture that has been handed down from ancient societies and still bears the marks of their influence. If you recall the catalyst for this video it was because someone was placing too much credibility on his non empirical beliefs and trying to shape the futures of students with that. I want future generations to move forward, not be held back.
