TRAPPED chapter 2

I know, I know, youre thinking, Shes crazy! Theres no such thing as vampires! But Im not and there is. There is a rumor going around, thanks to that book, Twilight, that vampires cant sleep. Its not true. Although, Stephanie Meyer wasnt actually that far off. She was right when she said they were unrealistically beautiful, and that they were incredibly fast, and strong, too. She was also right when she said that most vampires live in small nomadic clans, away from human civilization- that is, until they need to hunt. Also, their eyes. All vampires eyes change color depending on their appetite, and most have ruby red eyes. Some rare vampires, who dont hunt humans, have golden eyes. Then, there are the Forsaken, like me. We have eyes that change from a color often related to our powers, to black as night. We are called Forsaken because it was once thought that if you had eyes like these, then you were going to die- nearly impossible for vampires. They thought these jeweled eyes signs of a rare and deadly disease. There was no cure.
My eyes were a piercing and brilliant blue. When Im sick, (yeah, vampires get sick) theyre so pale theyre almost gray. Yeah, Im just full of surprises. Only one in a million vampires will have eyes that arent golden or red, and only one in a trillion will have eyes that change colors when theyre sick. I cant go to school even when I have the common cold, all because my eyes decide to change colors. Im also one in a billion- I dont need to drink blood. Or, we should say, as much blood. I just eat much more meat than the average human. I could live off a diet of blood if I wanted to, and I am sometimes tempted to bite people when they are bleeding, or if they stand too close, but while most vampires drink a few gallons per week, I only drink half that in a month. I dont even really have to either; I could always just eat a lot of meat cooked medium rare. Thats what I usually do. Thats a relief, because as a human, I used to faint at the sight of blood. Ironic, isnt it? I dont do that any more, but if I dont need it, it still makes me feel a little sick.
Someone tapped on my door, waking me from my reverie. It was Rhiley.
Hey, Rhiles, I thought. I didnt bother to speak aloud. She could read minds, and also project her thoughts into other peoples minds. Like all vampires, she was insanely beautiful. She had a blonde pixie cut, in contrast to my own long jet black hair. Her eyes were golden, the usual color for us vegetarians. Thats our little joke. I wonder who spilled it to Stephanie Meyer.
Hey, Kayla, she said aloud. Usually that meant something was up, something important, or that there was more than one person in the room whose thoughts she didnt feel like keeping track of. Madison saw something... interesting. If youre wondering, Madison is Rhileys sister. She can see the future. Her hair was sort of in the middle of both of ours. She had auburn colored hair that was almost as curly as mine, that hung almost to her shoulders, and her eyes matched Rileys. She used to be her actual biological sister, before they both got changed. I had always been an only child. I still felt like it most of the time.
What did she see? I asked. Rhiley was pretty smart, and when she couldnt find a word to describe something, it usually meant she had trouble deciding whether it was a good thing or a bad one.
Hot guys. Insanely hot guys. Three brothers. Theyre moving in next door to us in a little while. Oh, and the youngest one has a twin sister.
Are they human? I questioned. She shrugged.
Thats the weird thing. Either theyre human and RIDICULOUSLY hot, or theyre one of us. Theyre that close.
That IS interesting. Wait- she couldnt sense whether or not they were vampires? I asked. She shook her head. Ehmagawd, shes going to fall in love with one of them!
How do you know that? Youve only been a vampire for a few years, Rhiley said.
Jacob told me, I replied. She sighed.
Jacob tells you everything, doesnt he? she asked. I nodded.
He shouldnt. Oh well, not my problem. What IS my problem is that neither of us can sense what they are, so we need you to try.
Wait NEITHER of you can sense them? This is rich! I laughed. She glared at me, so I shut up. Ill be right down. She nodded and left. As soon as she did, I walked over to my piano. I opened my songbook to one of the songs I had written after I became a vampire. I called it Beauty From Pain, That was basically what the entire vampire life was.

i almost forgot to mention, song in video is Candles by Hey Monday. it's NOT the song Kayla is about to play. that's in next vid, and it's Beauty From Pain by SuperChick. (sp?)
