Lord Monckton: UK No Longer a Democracy, Ireland should be United... under the British crown

I was able to catch up with Lord Monckton of the UK who attended and spoke at the Tax Day Tea Party Rally 2010 in Washington, DC and he stated that the UK is no longer a Democracy, after saying he believes the entire island of Ireland should be united under the British crown. I did not get a chance to ask this follow up question: Are there any similarities or historical parallels between the Easter Rising in 1916 in Ireland and the American Revolution?
