I have always been interested in India because my hometown in Canada is called Ganges, B.C. on Salt Spring Island.

It was named for the HMS Ganges, built in Bombay, and was the last sailing ship in the British Navy. It patrolled these waters in the

19th century but few people here know our history, let alone anything positive about India.

Indians are the second-largest minority group in Vancouver, after the Chinese.
