@Acct1941 Also the AJV8 produces 290 bhp NOT 275 bhp as quoted. The Jag is verbally quoted as the slowest and yet the figures they show contradict this. The Jaguar is by far the loveliest of the designs.
Note that when the test favours acceleration, they break out the S500. When they need handling? S430 (lighter front end). The slalom is not done that way, it is done with no ESP and not at WOT. The XJ8 is actually an XJ8L. The 740i is actually a 740iL. For the price of the S500, you could test an XJR! Propaganda...
My uncle test drove a 740i back in 1997 and he did not like the way it drove AT ALL. Not neutral handling and it felt unbalanced. He thought the LS400 was better. So even though the 7-series was quite an impressive car, it was basically using 1980s suspension tech when compared to everyone else who were 5-10 years ahead. And it is worth noting that the LS400 basically was over 10 years old by 2000.

@logume1881 Well Toyota and undoubtedly their Lexus division are very conservative with their designs and evolution of existing models.

@1bentley4ever The Lexus was in it's 3rd generation, although I can't blame anyone for thinking it was exactly the same. Sure looks it.
