Amy Cohen Efron expressed her excitement after watching a 'sneak preview' of PepsiCo's commercial for the Super Bowl game. This commercial called, "Bob's House" and it has Deaf characters and the famous Deaf folklore/joke was incorporated in this commercial! This is an excellent marketing tool to show ASL and Deaf Culture!

Some people asked me for the transcript:

"YES!

I recently viewed the advertisement on YouTube. This advertisement will be shown in two weeks for the Super Bowl football game.

This commercial was created by the company called PepsiCo. PepsiCo and EnAble worked together to make this commercial specifically for Deaf audience, and it comes with Deaf characters with a story based on the deaf-related joke!

Ahhh, this is PERFECT! That is marketing ASL (American Sign Language) and Deaf (culture). PERFECT!

Continue marketing ASL more!

Yes!"

  • Can we get some subtitles?

  • Please go and read the transcript on the "About This Video" box... its there!

Subtitles are great, but very time consuming, and can be visually distracting too.

    Thanks for watching my video!

    Amy

  • obviously you haven't used tech support or customer service these days :)

The thing with english is that it has a large base, with asl a relitive smaller base. Which is why i may have said that deaf people are disabled in this world. Because asl is smaller than most other cultures. Dont start a war with me about that. Which is why your mindset is wrong. Your not going to raise awareness. English doesnt need anymore areness.

  • Yes that's how it is for us Deaf almost every single day. Hearing people's lips look like puppet mouths flapping very fast.

Difference is we Deaf encounter this pretty much every day whereas your experiences seeing sign language and being "leftout" happens significantly LESS often - if at all during your lifetime.

  • how about next, for the blind friend, they bring a huge strobe and see who wakes up :)

  • that kind of mindset isn't helping you raise awareness for deaf cultures. To people, it looks like people waving hands really fast. Gives them no meaning. If you title things, then they could accociate it with a language, something complex

  • high quality women - tiny[.]cc/whores607

  • keep it up asl for ad about pespi more.Smile!

  • anyone want to chat

ANYONE UP? I NEED SOMEONE TO TALK TO RN

  • Yes, its awesome

    I was very impressed.

In my case, I can hear and admit I take the fact the language of my society is sound one for granted.

  • i was very excited to see a deaf commercial as well! thank you for sharing your thoughts! I am hearing and i was exicited that they would share the deaf culture with the hearing culture. especially in a funny way! so thanks again for sharing. I enjoyed watching you sign. So thank you!
