I saw these lads perform live two weeks ago and was every bit as impressed as I expected to be. Seamie, Cathal and Mairtin are true masters of their art! Make sure to get their CD "Crossroads".
@arraia78 yes that is correct. Drums are always treated with suspicion in open sessions as many drum players don't know this. If you see a Bodhran player who is welcome in a session it means they're good.
from everything I've heard, in Irish music the Bodhran is not supposed to keep the rhythm but accent it. This separates Irish music from many other types of music in that the percussion is not the pace setter, the lead instrument sets the pace. Is this the case?

I only hear the accordion and the bodhran. Just a hint of guitar. I don't hear the fiddle at all.
