Orca Summer 2010: Final edit

An updated version of the earlier Orca Song 2010 video, with new images and a completely new (high quality) soundtrack; it's also considerably longer. Features photos taken from Haro Strait in my kayak the summer of 2010.

The soundtrack features sounds I collected during these photo shoots from my kayak with the help of a hydrophone and recording system from Cetacean Research Technology. This soundtrack features an edited collection of the sounds from two separate orca encounters with the same J and K pod whales in July and August, both relatively free of boat noise.

Note: Though the whales approached me on several occasions, as you can see, at no point did I ever put myself in the path of these whales; rather, I did my best to stay out of their way, tucked mostly into coves. Sometimes, though, they seem to want to visit -- and then their path suddenly will shift to include you in it. At that point all you can do is stay still and don't make any unpredictable moves.
