This video is a tribute to the filming locations of the wonderful film "Raggedy Man" starring Sissy Spacek, Eric Roberts, & Sam Shepard. The film takes place in Gregory, Texas, but was actually filmed in Maxwell, Texas, which is just east of San Marcos. I took a road trip down that way on October 1st, 2009. Alot of the little town still looks the same. The main house that was used is still standing, but has been moved from its original location on 5th street to the other side of the train tracks. It is easily noticeable because of its bright yellow color. Unfortunately the saloon that Eric Roberts gets into a fight in burned to the ground a few years back. The concrete slab is still there, as well as the sidewalk.

  • my understanding was that the carnival scene was filmed at northbeach in corpus christi texas

  • Yes that scene was down in Corpus...

And there really is a town of Gregory, but this did not take place in that town at all from my understanding...The movie states in the credits filmed in Maxwell....and if you ever visit Maxwell you will see almost perfectly scene for scene...Neat little town with nothing going on

    Hope that helps

  • Great Job Wes. Really enjoyed it.

  • Thanks a lot for posting. Absolutely fantastic. It gives nice push-ups to mind when we compare the things then and now. Anyways nice-cute little Texas town.

  • I'm trying to find this movie online. Does anyone know where/how to find it?? I can't seem to find it any where.

  • I love this. Thank you!!!

  • Thank you soo much for this. I have wondered for many years if the house was still there and what the town looks like today. My current house was built in 1915 which is right around the time the house in the movie was built judging by the archetecture. This movie sparked my interest in older homes. I would love to know if this house was origionally a telephone office? Anyone know the history of this house? What a fabulous job in recreating 1944 in Gregory (Maxwell) Texas. Seen the movie 100's tm
