An interesting (though I feel quite bias) documentary created by UKTV History on the life of Prince Albert, prince consort to Queen Victoria. It solely focuses on a more realistic view of his relationship with his wife and his relentless pursuance for power, displaying him as a domineering character.

Please note that not everything in this documentary is true as I noticed some inaccuracies used quite frequently, though you might not really care too much!
I hope you enjoy it!

  • well this certainly shattered my view of the movie with emily blunt, never trust a movie to tell a historical story, kinda disappointing actually, but its life.

I looked forward to the movie myself, but when I saw it I thought it was a joke. It was so cliche and inaccurate I didn't bother watching the whole thing. I should have guessed it would be a chick flick really, but I guess it was the reverse reaction for you.

Maybe it helps that this isn't completely honest either and at parts makes for mostly titillating viewing (as does any documentary about Queen Victoria...)

    Sorry to disappoint!

  • Ok this documentary is a load of crap. I was so looking forward to learning more aout Albert, but I honestly don't know what these people are smoking to come up with some of these theories and ideas.

  • it's kind of awkward to see this with the wrong type of music.

  • Wrong kind of music for a documentary of this sort.

  • In his mind power had probably given him a chance to change things. Correct the things he never had to correct. He'd probably loved Victoria more than this people say about him. If I could understand him. I'd say I'd judge him if I'd talk to him myself. AND IF I COULD ACTUALLY DO THAT. I would. Prince Albert and Queen Victoria has been very, inspiring.

Just my point of view though.

  • If I had known anything I'd rather read Queen Victoria's journal which she wrote when she was living as well as Prince Albert's diary if he had kept one when they were together. SECONDLY. They had done a lot of changes to Britain which were good. If Albert had not love Victoria he would've allowed her to get shot. They've just explained his childhood, he had a trauma, he wanted power because that was the view that was fed to him when he was growing up.

  • Sometimes I think Prince Albert was gay.

  • Why did they take a fourty year old man, to impersonate 20 year old Albert? I mean, that's more than ridiculous! It belitles the actor!

  • Albert was never a 'violent' man! Every source written about him and all contemporary sources say the opposite. Also the supposed quote by Disraeli suggesting that Albert would have become a 'dictator' is sheer nonsense. Who did the research/fact checking for this programme?

  • The music isn't too fitting, is it?

And I think the documentary is quite biased against Albert, surely he is not as bad as this portrays.

  • @GriffinNary yeah, i was disappointed, but i have read a lot about prince albert and this documentary does give a very biased view on him, the movie with emily blunt i regard as a completely seperate thing now, like a fairy tale movie not based on real life at all, cuz i can grugingly say the 2% girlish romantic in me liked it.
