La Serna went 20-9, beat nationally ranked Crespi and made the Southern California CIF Quarterfinals in 2008 under first year coach Anthony Gonzales, Jr.

Yes, St Paul and La Serna played for the championship of this tournament. Teams like SO Notre Dame, Oxnard, Paloma Valley, La Mirada and other really good teams got knocked off. LS and SP were two of the very best area teams that year.
