Bus #1000, the New Flyer D40LF prototype, pulls away following a Chicago Transit Authority press conference on November 8, 2005. Learn more about Chicago's CTA bus system at http://chicagobus.org
Well, to me I ride them everyday on 6, 77, mostly Archer Novas and I dont see anything wrong with them, I kinda seen mostly new flyers 1000s broke down mostly than nova anyways, but I'll tell you that over 1,000 of New Flyers 1000s is way more than enough. So they might as well order more Novas or different type of bus like Van Hool A330 like AC Transit or Orion VII Next Generation or Millenium RTS as my opinion. Im sorry Im not a big fan of New Flyers.
CTA has no need for more Novas because Novas aren't high-density buses. If you've ever ridden them on the 3, X3, X4, 6, 60, 62, 77, 79, or 81 during rush hour you know what I mean. The New Flyers are a compromise between a high-density bus (like the old M.A.N. Americanas) and a lower-density bus (like the old 1983 Flyers).
Well I'm sure you will like to know STO who operates in Gatineau across the river from Ottawa, Canada's capital, still has a bunch of them left. Also they got a big variety of different models of Classics. They got 6V71N, 6V92TA of course and S50 in their Classics.
Though STO does plan on scrapping them in 2012 strangely enough.
How is it goin with the Classics in your city? Are they going to be around for at least 4 more years. They are my favorite canadian buses, I miss the Buffalo's 1992 MCI Classics- I wonder where they at now probably somewhere back in canada for secondhand.
@flyerbuses5000 uhh hello lol, what difference does it make? (even though you have a point there).
