Google Earth is a virtual globe application, that you can use to view the earth, either as a satellite image, a series of aerial photographs, or a superimposed combination of the two.
When sorting your photos in Picasa, you can automatically add Geotag information to them, by using Google Earth to locate the exact position on the globe where to photo was taken, and in this screencast tutorial, we show you how.
Once you've uploaded your photos to Google Earth, other users will be able to view your photos, simply by clicking on the tag you created.
I have a problem with this Geotagging in Picasa. I downloaded the free version and I tried to Geotag a photo however it informed me to install Google Earth which I did. When I tried to Geotag again I still get the same message to install Google Earth. I restarted the laptop and tried to install Picasa again and it didn't work. Any suggestions?
Software Versions:
Picasa Version 3.1.0 (Build 71.43, 0)
Google Earth Version 5.1.3506.3999 (beta)

Same question from me. Once I Geotag a photo in Google Earth (with Picasa) is there a way I can make this photo public so that other users looking at that location also see my picture?

If you upload them to google earth does that mean everyone on google earth may view the picture or is it just you who can view them?
