In 2009, Richard Lowenstein's DVD release of his film Dogs In Space widened me to even more Australian music from the late 70's / early 80's (admittedly mainly from the Melbourne punk scene) along with genuine footage of the band The Ears with Sam Sejavka and Mick Lewis who for the previous 20 years had only been names listed on the DOS soundtrack sleeve. (It's almost like the U.K. media police stop anything from Australia or New Zealand from entering our shores, just in case it's actually quite good - unless it has anything to do with Neighbours or Home And Away.)
Less than a year ago I found that The Ears bassist Cathy McQuade had been in Deckchairs Overboard and a youtube search kicked up That's The Way from 1982, I was hooked.
This is the full 1982 self titled Deckchairs Overboard 4-track 12" release featuring That's The Way and Mixed Low on side one with the fantastic Legion and Where Elephants Hide on side two.
Credits to Minordian and the fantastic nzoz1983.
That's The Way 0:09 (re-released as a 7" in 1983)
Mixed Low 2:42
Legion 5:58
Where Elephants Hide 8:41
