To everyone, I am straight edge, always have been always will be. But when I was younger there wasn't a label for it, I'm 24, and I have lost family members due to drug use and alcohol abuse; Hell I have siblings who have drug and alcohol problems and it's tearing me up because I love them. I am also a nurse so I can tell you from a personal and professional stand point how bad that stuff is for you. But hating others because they use doesn't help anyone, instead help them get clean!

Taking the "pledge" to sXe when you're 12 isn't "easy". You don't know shit about the kid in the video. Maybe all his friends drink/smoke/do drugs etc? Maybe he grew up with it? All my friends began to drink in their teens, but I decided I won't and become straight edge. It's different for every person.

@newbeachinvasion I think it's harder. For one, I would hope most adults are past the 'Drink or you're a pussy' bullshit by the time they're allowed to drink. I'd also hope that those same adults wouldn't be as susceptible to peer pressure as twelve year olds are.

Im 27 and I just became straight edge about 3 months ago, I will be straight edge for the rest of my life and im probably going to get one of those tats somewhere just to prove it to my subconscious. If i could have been straight edge since i was 12, there is no telling what I could have accomplished by now. Its been a long rough road up to this point, but there is such a feeling of liberation to being straight edge that I am just happy I have made it here. I hope the same for anyone else.

If anything, it's harder when you're 12/teenage, it's still all about the forbidden fruit thing, BINGE. BINGE, BINGE, because you don't know when you'll get it again. When you're an adult, it old hat.

@ThePrototype27602 then you can't "associate" with drinkers either, I've already demonstrated that ethanol is a hard drug and if you asked any medical professional they'd concur. you're either going to live your life only associating with people just like you, or you could learn tolerance and realize that you don't know what's best for other people. it's the same concept as racial tolerance, religious tolerance, and everything else.

@truthslap I agree with the comment about moderation, but not when it comes to drugs. I would never want to be associated with people like that...
