Let it never be said that Unwardil is not a Sellout to the man!

Complette Last Exile box sets are now available from FUNImation at www.funimation.com/lastexile

Vanship couriers Claus and Lavie are just trying to make a buck to pimp thier racing ship when they accept a simple delivery to the battleship Clod's Solace, but after even the briefest of encounters with the insane nobility that run thier country, soon the only thing they care about is finishing thier job while keeping a level state of sanity in case chivalry is catching...

Inspired by other such great abridgers as Little Kuriboh, Hbi2K, Ganxingba and KaiserNeko Abridge Too Far productions brings you the first complette episode of Last Exile Abridged.

Because nothing plot relevant happens in the first episode of Last Exile, this is a combination of episodes one and two, except with the dialogue changed to how I thought it should have gone, with a lot of nasty and in some cases, just plain tasteless jokes thrown in for good measure.

All credits to Gonzo Digimation for the animation, the opening music is a clip from the BBC addaptations of Bernard Cornwell's Sharpe novels and... Well there's a raft of other junk in here. I also don't claim the rights to the phrase 'Mind numbing Pun no jutsu' and give full credit to Hbi2K for the idea and hope that if he watches this he is not offended by my lampooning thereof.

Just as an aside, seeing as this is my first full length production of any sort, any coments as to the quality of the piece, particularilly in dealing with how I might improve the next installement would be greatly appreciated.

Overlap part 1:

Heraldo MacSideburns: He's mixing up his impressions by jove. Alright you fine Chappies, listen up. Your admiral is a mad scott who thinks he's english, badly impersonating an anti-semetic australian, acting the roll of an angry scott. Compared to that, valour and chivlary will be your greatest weapons. Some of you will be killed instantly, many of you will suffer greatly from grotesque wounds, because there's nothing quite so painful as being shot repeatedly by superheated lead balls. But never fear you shant suffer long as all casualties will of course be jettisoned with the privy waste, in accordance with chivalry's code of altus prognatus iniquitas.

Mullin: I really wish that didn't make more sense then standing on the fully exposed gun deck pointlessly exchanging volleys of small arms fire with the marrines of the enemy ships for absolutely no comprehensible reason...

Overlap part 2:

Lavie: Well it obviously has nothing to do with the ways of numerical advantages, fire superiority and the tactics of surprise, shock and outflanking! Sun Szu said that all warfare is based on deception but the only deception you can manage is fooling yourselves into thinking you're in any way qualified to lead men into battle! Soldier 1: Does it ever bother you that even a fifteen year old girl has a better understanding of tactics then our admiral?
Soldier 2: No... atleast not 'till you mentioned it...

Ok? Good... All settled then.

  • WHY DIDN'T YOU PUNCH THE KEYS!?!?! (gotta love the Sean Con refs ^_^)

On a side note, anyone know if the Glass fleet abridged is el fin?

  • @JakenJragin

I'll get back to Glass fleet eventually. I always finish what I start... Unless what I start is a parody of the Akira movie.

  • I love it when the abridgers blatantly beat the shows with it's flaws as if using a rolled up news paper on a bad pet.

Then again it is more due to the guilds' wishes that non essential musketeer squads be senselessly slaughter, but that doesn't make this any less funny.

On another note: The captions, don't read them.

  • @PlacidDirge

Well, in all fairness, it's not really a flaw of the show, the idea was to graphically illustrate the pointlessness of the war they're fighting and the enormous human cost, at which it succeeds brilliantly and I could wax eloquent about all the things that are brilliant about the first two episodes of last exile...

But it still doesn't make a lick of literal sense and Chivalry Mac Do-your-best is still a friggin idiot who needs serious mocking.

  • I went and watched Last Exile because this abridged series piqued my interest and I have to say, shameless cliche's aside, it's one of the best anime I've seen. Thanks Unwardil for introducing it to me.

  • Yeah, the one thing I'd never accuse Last Exile of is of going out of it's way to avoid Cliches, but seriously what ISN'T cliche at this point. Even being cutting edge is cliche at this point. It's all been done, but there is still doing things well and... Not...

  • @bass1master Dude! I haven't seen the real show yet.......now your making me try to watch it via unwarranted means (seeing how the UK's foolishly not ordered it yet at HMV or other places)

  • @Unwardil How can you complete something that even the actual anime isn't even completed yet xD

I just wanna see what kind of joke you use for the sex scene between michelle and cleo, as well as the murder of Ralph.

  • Damn you ya bloody bastard Unwardil for making something so funny it makes me watch it over seven times now T.T good job

  • NICE battlestar reference at 6:09

And would you say that Terry Pratchett is an influence on you? Some of what you said was very reminiscent of some of his work.
