Just a sample of the sound it was making after I rebuilt the carb. EA81 with hitachi carburettor

*update* the noise was an intake valve rocker knocking because it was way out of adjustment; it had been knocked out by a rag (which I used to block up the intake manifold hole) being sucked into the valve/piston area.

And yes, I feel like a complete idiot, no need to point it out :P

*another update*
The engine is toast, something in that cylinder is broken, valve bent, pushrod bent, conrod bent, piston broken I don't know but it's toast.

  • @KASTAS155 That's cool, we've had this one since new (1981) but it has the 4WD g/box. Along with the Weber I'm planning to put an L series 5 speed in it...one day :)

  • @cruddiestcrudever mines a plain wagon. 1984 subaru gl wagon.. ea81 fwd manual. i love mine too lol its like a car thats been in my family since it was new

  • @KASTAS155 The car is 1981, but the engine (now) is 84', the motor in this video was 82', it's had 3 motors in its life :P Is yours a wagon or Leone? this is a wagon, I love it to bits :) And yes a Weber is next on my to do list, just gotta get the cash together to do it properly.

  • @cruddiestcrudever nice. what year is this subaru? i got a 1984 that my dad passed on to me that im currently fixing up. the carb on it is pretty much garbage. thinkin about geting a weber kit

  • @KASTAS155 It's a long story, but basically after this video I did rebuild the engine. There was absolutely nothing wrong with it. After it was done I put it back in and it ran beautifully, for about 1 day. Then a main bearing failed after going up a hill causing massive endfloat. I gave up on it after that and bought a replacement engine.

  • dang are you gunna rebuild the engine?
