UWO's first Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) graduates reflect on degree's value

Not only will a record, nearly 1,500 students walk across the stage and become graduates of UW Oshkosh Saturday, May 12 at Kolf Sports Center, but four will become the first-ever to earn and receive doctoral degrees from the UW System's third-largest university.

Morgan Bailey, of Oshkosh; Amber Carriveau, of Green Bay; Anna Christian, of Appleton; and Vicki Ray, of Appleton, will be the first to obtain a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree. All are employee throughout Oshkosh, Appleton and Green Bay in the nursing field and believe the degree will enhance their knowledge base and ability.

Hi,

I finished my BSN in Dec, 2011 and looking for further studies in nursing starting Fall 2013. I have been interested in DNP program and will like to join it. However with my limited experience, I have doubts if DNP is going to be for me. Is it good to join the master's program prior to DNP or join DNP - post BSN program. What will you suggest?
