As the series author, Robert Parker, said, "Robert Urich played himself". And, ... what a wonderful character he played. Not Parker's Spenser but another Spenser well worth our attention. Of course, Avery Brooks added depth to the role of Hawk that was not in the scripts or the novels. Along with Barbara Stock, a great group of actors. If only the writing had been better, particularly in the third season. Greg Gibbs

@dal4018 Between Law & Order and SVU, Law & Order defiantly. Between L&O and Spenser, well i haven't really seen an episode of Spenser and it's kinda hard to choose the themes because they are both so unique. Well the Spenser theme is new to me so i kinda like that more i guess.
