This was my video entry which was a finalist in the Lonely Planet video contest. I dedicate it to my students and my town who were so supportive of me. You can see more about it here when I was on CBS News: http://youtu.be/gOW4lIA1JcQ
Thanks to the Pleasanton Museum on Main for their permission to use the historic photos and for giving me the Heritage Award for "Best History Teacher of the Year Award."

Also, thanks to Kevin Macleod for use of the song "Cold Funk" (Creative Commons)

  • Nicole, liked ur video back then and again watched it today. Where is the hats shop in Pleasanton?

  • @deccandude Thanks! I appreciate it. The kids were trying on hats at Christensen's Tack Room on Main Street. The store front appears briefly in the video. You can find anything there a cowboy could ever need. Lots of fun!

  • Nicole, meus parabens. Espero um dia poder conhece-la e a sua linda cidade.

  • Obrigada! Seja Bemvindo! Nicole

  • That is such a fine project to have completed. Thank you so much for sharing that with me. I feel honoured to have had the privilege of viewing your home town (and family) through your own eyes. I come from a small coastal town as well and while there are differences I could also see similarities. I now feel like I have met you. What a wonder the internet is.

  • home for me is PR... for me there is no place like-- right now i am living in charlotte, nc-- i just moved here but there really isn't any like home-- amo a mi bella isla =)

  • On New Year's Eve, go to the Main St. Brewery in Pleasanton... I hear there's a really good band playing...

  • Great work!

  • Great job! I am a Pleasanton German teacher who coordinates an exchange program to Germany. What a wonderful way for me to acquaint our German guests with Pleasanton before they arrive in January 2010! I am going to put a link to the video on my exchange program website right now :-)

  • I lived in Pleasanton for 21 years and still have children and grandchildren there. I saw many changes but it still does have the small town feel.

  • Great video from a fellow Pleasantonian. I couldn't agree more!
