  • Yes.. an "improvement" example is the intermittent switch that you have on your windshield wipers. The improvement was to save the driver from having to turn the switch on to wipe the windows in a little drizzle. That improvement is actually an "inventive idea" that is completely patentable. Call me if questions 831-455-0418, Dave..

  • @davekorpi Wait, actually the intermittent switch would be a patentable device, not necessarily an improvement to the wipers themselves, right?

Let me give an example: Someone invents a device that consists of four legs and a small, round, horizontal platform and the calls it a "stool." Someone else takes that same idea and adds a "back" to the stool and calls it a "chair." Is the "chair" patentable?

  • @davekorpi Cool! Then I really need that provisional patent!!! thanks I'll be in touch!

  • At 2:26 you said that if you have an "improvement on an idea, you have a monopoly." Doesn't "prior art" stop that sort of thing? Can you still get a patent on an "idea improvement?"

  • HOw come nothing moves on this video? I do not see the guy in it.

  • Go to his channel and look at the 10 top reasons to get a patent.. It is very helpful. I do not know how to put it in the comments because it does not take... Anyway, just go to davekorpi and you will see it there
