Our UW Radio guest is Dr. John Neustadt. The doc is a super-nerd with a ridiculous amount of knowledge on bone health and osteoporosis!
He and I are pretty excited to bring you a ton of info that you'll likely never hear at your doctor's office.
For example:
Did you know that calcium and Vitamin D supplementation reduces fracture risk by just 16%? Not bad. But we'll show you something MUCH better.
Did you know that 20% of those who fracture a hip die within a year?
Did you know that the vitamin K and magnesium oxides typically used in bone health supplements are barely absorbed and do NOT increase bone mass?
Did you know that prolonged use of prescription bone drugs like Fosomax actually INCREASE risk of fracture?

@qualqui I think the speaker does mention something to that affect in interview. He specifically recommended that one have more balancing exercises as well.

Hmm...but its also true that a more active lifestyle, joggin', swimming, working out, gymnastics, etc. help a person in maintaining their bone density, whereas a sedentary lifestyle heightens the risk of getting osteoporosis, great vid Sean, thumbs up and thankin'ya for the AWESOME UPLOAD!!
hmmm...i'll be checkin' that bone supplement, sounds really interestin'.

I listened to the whole interview, seemed pretty comprehensive and very informative. I can remember the speaker being very careful on how he answered some questions.
