I made two flights up to Grimes Field in Urbana, OH for the Mid-East Regional Fly-In (MERFI) on September, 12, 2009.
The first trip I took my friend Mike up and we landed at Bellefontaine first so I could log the trip as cross-country time. For that arrival, there was tons of traffic in the pattern at Urbana and it made for a very hectic, but safe, flight once we neared the airport. We spent a few hours on the ground, attended a seminar, and walked around admiring all the aircraft parked outside on a beautiful sunny day.
Later in the afternoon, I flew back up with my girlfriend for dinner. There was a guest speaker, David Scheff, who used to manage the maintenance of the VC-25s for the USAF - known to most of us as Air Force One. He told some great stories and we enjoyed our meal up there. Once he was finished, we made the short flight back to Waynesville and landed right at sunset.
Indeed, N60338.
