  • The engine is derived from the ex-Opel DTM V6 unit, prepared by Swindon in the Uk. Wish it was an NSX lump though. Next development plan is to stick the Toyota 3.5 V6 (the Evora lump) into it, but that will depend on whether Proton approves the budget (Not likely though)

  • @Janusha uh.....thats the whole point of a super car, is that its fast enough, but it can go faster, so it needs to be modded. Supercars today arnt supercars, they are in fact just symbols of wealth, and in reality arnt as good as they could be. 1200hp is a lot, but honestly, theres a ford ranger that makes more then 600hp then that in my state. Sales are sales, not everyone has to make the most cars to be content with their profit margin.

  • -Build quality, styling and more importantly, price... means nothing to these people and they already have every single Ferrari, Lambo, Aston in the garage. Which is why SSC and this Hennesesey guy are able to charge ridiculous money for these things regardless of their barely-above-kit-car build quality. Trouble with catering for oilsheiks in Arabia however is that there are about 20 of them in total.

  • And may I also add... They are selling these cars to largely crazy arabs. Even with a wooorld record to their name, SSC was unable to sell their cars to anyone in Europe or even at home in America. Its never been properly reviewed and I can see why. Those that HAVE roadtested them, such as Top Gear, say it smells of glue inside, looks homebuilt and has all the luxuries of a Chinese rickshaw. But in Arabia, the car culture is young. the only thing that means something to them is speed and hp.

  • @slrrfan

yes yes yes... What people do with their own private vehicles is an entirely different matter. The enormous tuneshop and modding market is certainly testament to that. Likewise you can also buy stuff like the 1200 hp Porsche 9FF but surely you can agree this is for die-hard enthusiasts and dont represent your average consumer. As is reflected in the SSC Aeros sales. They sold what.. 12-15 cars since 2007. These Hennessey guys expect to build something like 5 a year.

  • @Janusha i dont even have to do a long comment....Maxton monster mile, go look it up, then comeback and explain to me about doing 200mph. The salt flats, its a mans world, and they sure do care about top speed.

  • Koenigsegg, Bugatti, SSC Aero.. These are companies in need of publicity and an identity in the eyes of the world. So they do top speed stunts and put 1000++ hp into their cars and there is a tiny, tiny market for these so called hypercars. To play on peoples illusions that faster = automatically better. Because speed is what people associate with supercars. However racecars have done virtually the same speeds since the 60s. Speed on its own is nothing new.

  • @slrrfan

No... If Porsches were trying to be faster than the next Ferrari, Then the next Lambo tried to be faster than the next Porsche and Ferrari Tried to be faster than... You see. Where does it end ? Instead... It ended at 200 mph. They stopped that race because where the hell would it end up? NOBODY even does 200 mph so where is the point. They all focus on making the best handling, quality, styling, acceleration, craftsmanship. They are refreshingly disconcerned with top speeds.

  • @Janusha Your going off of the point, what im saying is porsche, etc.....You dont understand the feel of the cars, the passion in em. Look cars arnt safter today then they used to be, its all the sound deadener, etc... that makes them heavy and requires a light body/frame to compensate making them less safe. You dont get what I'm saying here, there are many drag cars that are street legal that push 200mph+ at the track. They are concerned about speed, its always a race to see whose faster.

  • @slrrfan

Ferrari, Porsche reached 200 mph in the 80s with 2.9 litre engines. Today Porsche has 3.6 and up to 4 but Ferraris have gone up to 5 and still have the same speeds. Because all todays safety and technology features makes cars heavier but also because the top speed race ended when they reached 200 mph. To go any faster you need special roads and different bodywork or insane amounts of hp. They are more concerned with making the BEST cars. Not the fastest. Speed on its own is nothing new.

  • @Janusha I disagree. Faster is always better, as long as its done with style and true work. Porsche went closer to 300 in the 70s. The porsche 917 long tail was clocked in at 267mph on the back stretch of le mans in 70 or 71, honestly they could go faster, but they lost the drive. Just look at the cars now, and compare them to back then, today they lack passion.
